It continues to scrobble not only from iTunes, but from cloud-based music services. In fact, "scrobbling" to Facebook is so easy that when Facebook added the feature, we called Last.fm the biggest loser in that equation. In that one simple step, you'll start sending your listening history to Facebook, so your friends can see what you've been listening to (unless you turn off Facebook sharing). All you have to do to send your playback history to your Facebook Timeline is use your Facebook identity to log into a music service. That's nearly 250 free mp3 songs.Now, Facebook does pretty much the same thing (except for with iTunes). The free music download section at the time of writing listed 25 pages of music, each with ten songs.
A click on free mp3 opens a direct download link that does not require users to be logged in to download the music. You can preview any song that is offered as a free download directly on the page, or sort the music listing by genre instead. That's five years after our initial review of the service. Update: It is interesting to note that the free downloads are still offered on the Last.fm site. I did however find a link on Liquid Parallax that pointed to a website where Last.fm users where categorizing the free mp3 downloads. One thing that bothers me a little bit is that the songs cannot be sorted by genre. The songs can be downloaded by visitors and users alike, no registration is needed for this. While you get genres listed on the page, it is usually not enough to determine the quality of the song which makes previewing the music the best option. It is usually a good idea to preview songs, especially those that you do not know the artist of. It is possible to listen to the songs before you start the download by clicking on the mp3 link in that row.
You do find some popular artists among them including Snoop Dog, Sarah Connor as well as some classics from Beethoven and Bach.Ī download starts when you click on the free link next to the artists name and song title. All songs are available on one page sorted by popularity.
